Rainy Day Trip

The girls and I were on our way to the grocery store today when I started to feel a few raindrops. Five seconds later, literally, it was pouring. The rain here is daily and torrential. I started sprinting and pushing the double stroller, worrying that the girls were going to get wet. By the time I made it to the house, I was completely soaked. Emma was in the infant seat, so she was still dry. Ana, however, was in the front seat, and the rain had come in sideways for the majority of the trip. She had gotten it worse than I had! Her hair was dripping wet, her dress was soaked, and she was still clutching her now soggy cracker, obviously stunned by the onslaught of rain. I looked at her and held my breath, waiting for a sob, a cry, any sign of irritation… and she blinked at me, looked at my wet hair and shirt, and smiled and laughed, as if it was the funniest thing ever.

Some moments are just so unbelievably sweet. I’m doing my best to remember each and every one of them…
