Announcing…

So, I have a little announcement to make. Yes, folks, it’s been three years since we’ve been expecting. Three years since we’ve been waiting on a little tiny bundle of joy. Three years since I’ve been pregnant.

Which is is why it’s a HUGE deal that I finally got rid of my very last maternity dress. Like, yesterday.

Now before you start judging me, let me tell you about this dress. First of all, it’s not the dress in this picture. The dress in this picture was my favorite maternity dress because it was lightweight (which was good in July), comfortable (which was good during that third trimester), and slimming (which was an outright lie that I kept telling myself every time I put it on). No, the last maternity dress standing was not this dress. It was another dress that was very comfortable, very summery, and could pass for a non-maternity dress… kinda. I had no shame in wearing it because no one else even had to know that it was made for women who were carrying fully cooked humans around inside of them. Shhh! Go on and wear it! I won’t tell anyone!

I took it out yesterday and planned to wear it out in public like I’ve been doing for the past three years. Yesterday, however, was the first time I got a good look at myself in it, and I actually gasped out loud, as I thought, “I’m HUGE! I could seriously pass for six months pregnant!” Yes, well, that’s what happens when you wear maternity dresses.

So, I said good-bye to the last maternity dress, packed it away for the clothes closet, and promised to never look back. (And to not rummage around for it next week when it’s really hot outside, and I think it would be a good idea to wear it one more time. No more!)

Anyone else out there secretly wearing some of your maternity clothes while NOT pregnant? Don’t go pretending that you don’t still have a nursing bra or two in your drawers!

My favorite skirt EVER is a maternity one…I wear it to church all the time! …or I DID, until I tried to 2 weeks ago and realized that I'm un-pregnant-looking enough (finally) that it sags unbecomingly in the front. SAD DAY! It's now packed away in a box with the other maternity clothes, waiting to be donated…or something. 😦

LOL! Yeah, I thought about the nursing bras AFTER I posted this, that they're worn more after baby comes than before. 🙂 So, those only count if you're like me and nursed for two weeks and wore the bras for a whole year. (They were expensive! Had to get my money's worth!)
