This week is birthday week at the Faulk house! Ana turned four yesterday, and Emma will turn three tomorrow. Sigh. It just doesn’t seem possible that so much time has passed since they were cuddly, cute little newborns… who were in need of diaper changes about every five minutes. (And that was no small task when both little sets of buns were in diapers at the same time, y’all.)
Speaking of diapers, one of my favorite mommy books is a little gem titled Changing Your World One Diaper at a Time. You’ve probably heard me mention this book once or twice (or a dozen times) because it so accurately captures what life is like during your baby’s first year of life. Marla Taviano is a mother of three girls, and she shares from her own personal journey through the newborn years with sensitivity, encouragement, and best of all, humor. You’ll be challenged, affirmed, and entertained as she walks you through the high points and not-so-high points of early motherhood. I appreciated Marla’s transparency and candidness as she touched on sensitive issues that we struggle with as mothers — dealing with the grandparents, deciding whether or not to breastfeed, figuring out who we are now that we’re mommies, etc. Even though I’m past the newborn phase of parenthood, I still find myself pulling this book off the shelf and being encouraged all over again. (Oh, and as an added bonus, you just might find a couple of stories about Ana and Emma in this book!)
Because it’s birthday week and because I so love this book, I’m giving a brand new SIGNED copy to one lucky reader! Maybe you’re a mom who is past the newborn stage, a mom who is in the baby trenches right now, a mom-to-be, a someday mom, or just someone who is looking for a really great baby shower gift. If you fit in ANY of these categories, leave a comment telling me about the best birthday gift you ever received. Emma will draw a winner on Friday morning!
