More Faulkette Funnies

Emma to me, after I told her that she couldn’t get Wes’s tape measure out, “Coach and Nana ALWAYS let me measure their stuff.” Well, they’re nicer than me, then. Or you’re just making up stuff. (I think it’s the latter.)

Ana to a large group over dinner, “You know, if your parents won’t get you something, that’s okay because Santa will get it for you.” Someone is going to be really disappointed next Christmas.

Emma to me, “Texas is a big state.” Me to Emma, “It is.” Emma to me, “And there are a lot of stores in Texas. We have not been to all of the stores yet!” Me to Emma, “Perhaps that’s a goal we should set for ourselves.” Emma to me, “YEAH!” It’s going to be a long-term goal, obviously.

Emma to Ana, “But that’s not fair!” Ana to Emma, “You know what fair is, Emma? It’s what you use to get on the bus!” This is a classic case of Ana repeating what her Papi says. Sounds much sassier coming from her, though.

Me to Emma, as we listened to Taylor Swift’s “You Belong with Me,” “Hey, what’s this song about?” Em to me, “It’s about how I’m going to stay with you forever, Mommy.” I think that explanation makes the song even better!

Ana to me, holding up a half eaten brownie, “Hey! It’s Oklahoma!” It was indeed shaped like Oklahoma. She knows her geography.

Emma, when I asked her if she remembers Western Heights (our church in Oklahoma), “No, I don’t remember that church… but I remember the flowers in the barn.” Four years spent at WHBC, and all Emma can clearly recall is the flower storage shed out back. Sue Anderson would be so pleased!

In the interest of full disclosure, the tape measure has been needed often lately, and it had taken up residence on a side table. Ana never tired of measuring things – anything, everything! So, this time, she was telling you the truth.

The “Whats fair” saying is one of my favorites and one I use frequently. Glad to know that Ana is being “indoctrinated” at an early age, lol. Love the funnies.
