This week’s Wednesday Reads was one that I’ve had on my Kindle for a while. I think it got buried under everything else, which is a bummer, because it was so good!
Safe in His Arms by Melanie D. Snitker follows the heroine, Anna, as she escapes from an abusive ex-boyfriend drives across the country to a small Texas town. While living out of her van with her huge dog, Epic, to act as bodyguard, she begins to rebuild her life. She meets Joel, a local restaurant owner, in the process, and when he helps her to get a new start without knowing any of the details of her past, she begins a friendship with him, learning along the way that their unconventional pasts are very similar. The story shifts from Anna and her life to her ex and his pursuit of her, making for just enough tension to keep the book moving quickly. The romance between Joel and Anna is just about perfect, and there are plenty of characters in this book that set the stage for other books. (Other books that have already been written and are available on Kindle Unlimited! Yay!)
I would definitely recommend this one if you’re looking for a clean, well-paced romance.
