As you might have already heard (because I’m practically shouting it from the rooftops over here), there’s a new Jenn Faulk book out. Except it’s not just a Jenn Faulk book. It’s also an L.N. Cronk book!
What? I wrote a book with someone else? How did that happen? How does that kind of thing work?
All good questions. These were the same questions that she and I had back when we first came up with the idea to do a project together. To give you some background, we were “introduced” to one another over a year ago by a reader who reads both of our books, but we’ve never actually met in real life. The idea to do a story together came after I’d read some of her books and she’d read some of mine, but we weren’t sure how to go about it. She had a great storyline, though, and came up with a plan to tell the story using a letter format. And I told her, “Sounds great!” (See how helpful I was there?) We got set up on Google docs so we could both write on the same document, back and forth, established who was who, and got started.
When you get the book, you’ll see that it is indeed in letter format. Our characters, Luke and Audrey, spend the entire book writing letters back and forth to one another, telling the story as they go, both regarding what’s already happened and what’s currently happening. I wrote Audrey’s letters, and she wrote Luke’s letters. Because she was the one who knew what the storyline and the ending was, she had all the “answers.” She asked me early on if I wanted to know what was going to happen and where we were going. I told her I didn’t. I would regret this when Audrey had no idea what was going on and tried to take the plot in a crazy direction (like, all the time), but it all worked out in the end. I’m pretty sure I frustrated Leeann repeatedly because Audrey wasn’t doing what she was supposed to be doing. (Especially when Luke would hurt her feelings. Oh, the drama!) And both of us said, more than once, “What am I supposed to do with that?!” after reading a letter from the other character. Giving one another such little direction or input with Luke and Audrey made for more authentic interactions, so it worked!
I don’t want to say too much about the story because I don’t want to ruin anything. If it’s even half as much fun to read as it was to write, you’re going to LOVE this book! We were so into it that we finished the first draft in three weeks. No joke. We’d text each other back and forth about this so often that every time my phone dinged, Wes would say “chop, chop,” knowing who it was on the other end. I’d wake up in the morning so excited to see if I had “a letter from Luke,” to which Wes would so helpfully point out that “it’s chop chop, not a real guy named Luke,” to which I’d reply, “yeah, lucky for you he’s not a real guy.” (Oh, I kid. Actually, I did say that, but I was totally kidding when I said it! Kinda.)
All this said, woo-hoo for Run! We had so much fun doing this that we started (and finished!) a second book this summer, so if you love this one (which you will!), you won’t have to wait too long for the next one.
And if you’re looking for more great books, you can get Leeann’s first book, Chop Chop (see how clever Wes is?), and my book, Happily Ever After, for FREE on Amazon. What?! Yeah, Chop Chop is permanently free, but it’s just a fun little coincidence that the promo for my book hit at the same time as the release for this one. Hooray for more books! (Edited to add: HEA will be free starting on Monday, September 5th. Get it while it’s free!)
So… are you as excited as I am?! Happy reading, friends!

We did say that a lot, didn't we? “What am I supposed to do with that?!” Lol – good times!
