A Problem

My name is Jenn, and I have a problem.

I’m writing about it here, because so many of you have asked me “when’s the next book coming out?!” And because I have a plan in the back of my mind, I’ve answered with “soon!” But it’s time to come clean, y’all. So here it goes…

I’m drowning in projects. Literally. Well, not literally. I’m not buried underneath books and pages and notes and plots. They’re very conveniently all on my computer, so there’s no drowning going on. But one look at my desktop, and you’d be clutching your pearls to your chest and exclaiming “my lands!”

2016 was pretty epic. I managed a move to another state while still putting out a new book every month. How? I’m not entirely sure, y’all. I had every intention of being as prolific in 2017, but alas, January has come and gone without a book. Sigh. It’s not that I haven’t been working, because I have, around life and all that’s been happening here. I could publish poor Wes’s DMin project in its varying stages because I’ve spent a lot of time on that, but I’m guessing that’s not what you’re looking for. I can’t blame you for that because it’s not light reading and absolutely no one falls in love with anyone in that project. (Which is totally lame, in my opinion. But whatever.)

So… I’m sorry that there wasn’t a new book in January. Sniff, sniff.

But there are some great things up ahead, I promise! Over the break, Leeann Cronk and I finished two more books together. Yes, two! We finished the last one just this past week, and I kid you not when I tell you that my first response at the end was “let’s get started on the next one!” I think I could just keep writing books with Leeann without editing or publishing them and be perfectly content. Fortunately, she’s got better business sense than I do and sternly told me “absolutely not” because we have to get these two books edited and out to all of you before starting a new one. AND we both have another joint/compilation thing we’re working on with someone else that should have been done a long time ago (oops!) AND we both have our own individual books that need to be finished eventually because people are asking about them. What happened to Travis Collins and PJ Lucas? They’re just twiddling their thumbs and loudly sighing. Oh, guys, I’m so sorry! I was coming back to you! Really! I was!

All that said, here’s what I’m doing right now for those of you who think that I’ve stopped writing altogether…

– I’m editing a book that I wrote with Leeann. Leeann is editing ANOTHER book that we wrote together. I’m thinking we’ll both be done soon and will switch books and start another round of edits. I have no idea when these books will be ready, but trust me when I say that they’re amazing. So, so good! Good enough that I wanted to write the next spin-off (remember that I said that?) until Leeann got onto me and told me that we can’t just write for fun. Sigh.

– I’ve put myself on a word count quota with the Travis Collins book. Yes, it’s come to that. I feel like an Israelite trying to make bricks without straw some days, y’all, but I’m determined to get that quota met each and every day. I’m excited about the book and the characters, and I’m hoping that with that quota pushing me forward, I’ll have the first draft done in a couple of weeks. Here’s hoping!

– I’m working on a project that has nothing to do with any of my other characters. What? Yeah, more details to come about that, but it’s going to be a fun book! And I’m on a timeline to get it done in the month of February, so it’s coming along…

– And PJ Lucas. I still love him, and I’m going to get back to him soon! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a springtime book, hopefully before the girls get out for summer vacation.

Friends, thank you SO MUCH for your patience with me as I try to get a handle on what I’m doing and which project I need to finish first. Good things are coming in 2017!
